"Beachfront-of-Mariposa"

Mariposa, (butterfly in Spanish) Beach Suites is ideally located on the pristine Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize. Approximately 1 ½ miles North of the Creole fishing village of Placencia and 2 miles South of the Garifuna Village of Seine Bight for easy access to the many attractions of both villages. The Placencia Municipal Airstrip is just north of Mariposa for easy access.

Mariposa sits on 2 ½ acres with 175 feet of gorgeous white sand Caribbean beach front. In addition to the beachfront acreage, there is also a 12 foot private easement (approximately 500 feet in length) which grants access to the Placencia Lagoon and their private Boat House. The Caribbean Sea is the Eastern boundary and the paved Placencia Road is the Western boundary.

The 500 foot private driveway from the main road up to the suites is lined with tropical gardens on both sides, easing you into the courtyard and parking area.

Mariposa's Main Lodge was originally designed and laid out as a family compound. The main structure consists of 3,237 sf. This Caribbean Colonial styled two floor building is constructed of a combination of reinforced concrete and Styrofoam block, resulting in a very strong and well insulated building! Fully tiled with imported Italian tile. A portico is attached to the West side of the main building with 3 parking stalls at ground level. The roof of the portico has a 624 sf outdoor dining deck on top, which connects directly to the upper floor main living area, this deck is also tiled with imported Italian tiles.

"Beachfront-view"

The ground floor hosts the two complete guest suites originally conceived for the use of family and visiting friends. Each suite is well designed for fully independent living and consists of 432 sf. facing the Caribbean Sea. The suites are fully equipped with four burner gas stoves with oven, 11cf refrigerators, coffee makers, blenders, microwave ovens, toasters and sufficient accessories and utensils to accommodate all housekeeping requirements. All shelving and cabinetry are custom designed and fitted and made from native Belizean exotic hardwoods. Each suite contains a queen size bed. Each suite has 2 X 52" Hunter Indoor/Outdoor fans located in the kitchen and over the bed with an additional 26" fan in each bathroom. The suites are enclosed with floor to ceiling doors - two single doors and two sets of double doors. The two side doors, also floor to ceiling, often to the gardens on the North and South sides of the suites. All doors comprise six window panes on the top half and louvers on the bottom half. The suites are surrounded by a covered 10' deck on the North, East and South sides. In addition, in front of the suites is an uncovered, sunning deck tiled with Mexican tiles. Guests have the option of relaxing under the 10' covered deck or the uncovered six foot deck. Hammocks are hung along the verandahs.

Outdoor furniture immediately available to each suite is provided for the outside dining enjoyment of Mariposa's guests.

Adjacent to the North suite is a concrete pool trimmed in decorative tile that measures 6 ½ X 4 ½ feet with a depth of 30 inches. The pool is ideal for washing fishing equipment and dive gear.

The Caribbean Cottage is a separate building situated in the gardens to the northwest of the Main building approximately 300 meters back form the beach. It is fully equipped for independent living, it also has a beautiful outdoor patio dining area. The Cottage has a queen size bed in a separate bedroom and a small sitting room with a fold out, single sofa bed. The Cottage has a 4 burner stove, fridge and micro-wave oven.

"Beach"

The upper floor of the Main Lodge is fully devoted to the personal quarters of the owners. The living area consists of a kitchen, dining area, two bathrooms, sleeping area, TV/conversation area, wet bar, library. In addition there are two desk areas with built-in file cabinets. This peaceful and luxurious area measures 1,325 sf. All shelving and cabinetry are custom made from native Belizean exotic hardwoods.

The entire upper floor living area is surrounded on the North, East and South sides by a 10' covered deck, allowing for uninturrupted views of the surrounding landscape and gorgeous Caribbean Sea. On the West side overlooking the courtyard, gardens and drive is the 624 sf. Deck, the aforementioned outside dining terrace. The upper floor living area is accessed by two tiled, inside staircases trimmed with decorative tiles. The treads are in Spanish tiles and the risers are decorated with colorful Guatemalan tiles. Six floor to ceiling, double doors open to the Caribbean and in addition double doors to the North and South offer uninterrupted panoramas of the gorgeous coastline even from inside!

"Lounge-Chairs-on-beach"

The kitchen was designed to have everything available to cook within easy reach. The kitchen window faces West and overlooks the courtyard and gardens with a view down the 500 foot drive.

The wet bar opens onto the outside dining area deck. The wet bar also has its own bottle and glass cabinets.

The ceiling and roof are supported by 13 pressure treated, pine pole trusses. Air movement within the living area is controlled by 5 X 52" Hunter Indoor/Outdoor fans. Additional fans are located in the kitchen and main bathroom.

The palapas are large, thatched roof, open structures located on Mariposa's beach.. Each guest suite has its own palapa. Each palapa is rigged to accommodate two hammocks. The palapas are ideal settings for relaxing on the beach next to the water and out of the sun.
